L’Arte della Maschera “The Art of the Mask” is the name of my Craft Workshop.
Here I create and make my handmade Venetian masks following the ancient tradition started by the “Mascareri” masters over 500 years ago.
The masks are made of papier-mâché, a material considered poor composed of paper and glue, whose processing is very long and complex, and are unique pieces even if it is possible to create similar copies.
The skill of the craftsman first consists in the creation of the mask model, sculpting the clay to obtain a plaster cast, and then in the application of several layers of special absorbent paper and glue, up to the creation and final drying. of the mask itself.
This process gives value to the product which, as with all hand-made things, turns out to be a unique specimen and never completely the same as another.
